This workshop will provide participants with a general understanding of the neurobiological effects of trauma on the brain. The workshop will focus on neurobiological changes that occur for children when they encounter trauma. Participants will gain an understanding of the disruptive dynamics on the neurobiology of children in order to effectively describe emotional, verbal, and behavioral changes that occur as a result of these changes. The workshop will then explore the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to address trauma’s impact on the developing brain and its specific uses with children. Participants will learn the foundational mechanisms of EMDR and its impact on neurobiology and then explore the modification and uses of EMDR with children.
