Felicia Kerney has been a practicing attorney for over nineteen years. She has been with the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office since 2011, and currently serves as Chief Prosecutor for the DCDA’s Animal Cruelty Unit, and the Community Prosecution Unit. She also supervises the DCDA’s eleven satellite offices. In her prior post as DCDA’s Specialized Felony Trial Prosecutor in the Family Violence Division, she managed a docket of over 175 felony cases involving assaultive offenses against household members. During that time, she experienced her first case involving animal cruelty and domestic violence. It as this case that first introduced her to the LINK between animal abuse and human violence. Today, Felicia’s mission is twofold: make sure that those who harm animals are appropriately punished and educate the community about animal cruelty by speaking wherever anyone will listen.
